Supporting People With Disabilities and The People Who
Care For Them
Ohio's Developmental Disabilities
Coalition
The
Ohio League believes that no one type of program or facility can serve the
diverse needs of all our developmentally disabled
population. Therefore, the League is committed to educating citizens,
lawmakers, and state and federal officials to adopt this flexible and
realistic policy in the delivery of quality care and services to our loved
ones. In order to ensure that the needs of each person are met, we support
the development and availability of a full continuum of state operated and
private residential options; educational options and employment options.
Our Purpose:
To promote the general welfare of all
developmentally disabled people
To oppose the closing of any Ohio Developmental Center
To work for laws that will aid all
developmentally disabled citizens
To aid families of the
developmentally disabled to solve their problems
To co-ordinate
aid, public and private, in behalf of the developmentally disabled
PROPOSED RULE CHANGES
Parents
and advocates in Ohio and around the country are submitting comments to CMS in
opposition to a proposed rule change that would allow states to combine all
their waiver programs into a “mega-waiver” and that would encourage states to
“divest” of large public and private ICF/MR properties. Please let CMS know that
you are opposed to these proposed rule changes by writing to: Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services, Department of Health and Human Services,
Attention: CMS-2296, ANPRM, P.O. Box 8016, Baltimore, MD 21244-1850.

Medicaid Program; Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers
The Temporary High Risk Pool
is a federally subsidized health plan, authorized under the Affordable
Care Act, which makes coverage for individuals with pre-existing
conditions more affordable. The Ohio Department of Insurance chose Medical
Mutual of Ohio to administer the program. In their proposal, Medical
Mutual estimated that with the available funding they can cover more than
5,000 Ohioans through the duration of the program, with individuals paying
a standard rate premium for their coverage.
